About the Internship:
I began my time with WISN News, the ABC affiliate of Milwaukee, on January 24th, 2019. I was completing the internship during the Spring semester of my sophomore year and I was alongside only one other intern. Coming into the internship, I had set out certain goals that I hoped to achieve at the conclusion of the internship. For one, I wanted to learn more about the environment of a professional newsroom as I looked to further my development as an aspiring sports journalist. Second, I wanted to become very calm and composed in front of the camera as my desired career requires me to be comfortable telling a story in front of thousands (potentially millions) of people. Finally, I hoped to network with as many colleagues as possible in order to expand my overall network and gain more connections for my eventual job hunt post-graduation. After four months of hard work and determination, I'm happy to say that I completed every one of my goals that I originally set back in January of 2019. Whether it was participating in media availabilities focused around superstar athletes like Christian Yelich, Donald Driver and Giannis Antetokounmpo, completing mock sportscasts and practice live shots all over the Greater-Milwaukee Area or spending countless hours in the newsroom shadowing several professional reporters, I learned so much through WISN News. The places I went and the people I met were made possible because of this wonderful news organization and I look forward to continuing to put into practice all of the valuable lessons learned and the excellent connections made over the past four months.
